He spoke in a recent interview with Hip TV while relishing being co-judge of the the ongoing season of the Nigerian Idols with Omawunmi.
Afrobeats singer Iyanya has opened up on why he didn't make it to the first season of Nigerian Idols.
Recall that he had participated in the audition in Calabar, Cross River State, but failed to appear on the show.
He explained that he and Omawunmi, who went on to become the first runner-up on the maiden edition in 2007, were the only two contestants selected from the Calabar audition.
The singer, however, explained that he couldn't participate in the finals of the reality show as it clashed with his final year exams in the university.
He said a year later, he won the first edition of Project Fame West Africa.
He stated this in a recent interview with Hip TV while relishing being co-judge of the the ongoing season of the Nigerian Idols with Omawunmi.
Iyanya said, "Omawumi and I were the only ones picked at the Calabar Nigerian Idol auditions. I couldn't make it. I had my final year exam. A year later, I won Project Fame. Today, we're both judges on Nigerian Idol."
